Rebar: On July 13, the average price of 20mm Grade III seismic rebar in 31 major cities across China was 3,275 yuan/ton, down 12 yuan/ton from the previous trading session. Specifically, the morning session saw futures prices open lower and decline further, with spot prices in most domestic cities remaining stable but weak. In the afternoon, futures prices continued to drop, leading to widespread weakening in local quotations. Notably, declines were more pronounced in the East China, Central China, and Southwest regions. In terms of trading activity, influenced by the drop in futures prices, market sentiment remained subdued, with end-users primarily purchasing based on demand. After the typhoon passed, market transactions showed some improvement.
Hot-rolled coil: On July 13, the average price of 4.75mm hot-rolled coils in 24 major cities across China was 3,310 yuan per ton, down 10 yuan per ton from the previous trading day. In terms of supply, recent production of hot-rolled coils has remained at a high level with no short-term maintenance plans, resulting in strong overall supply. Regarding demand, increased rainfall in the recent period has led to relatively weak market feedback, with delayed demand orders.
Cold-rolled coils: On July 13, the average price of 1.0mm cold-rolled coils in 24 major cities across China was 3,803 yuan/ton, down 2 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. In some markets, spot prices of cold-rolled coils declined slightly due to weak trading activity, with overall market sentiment remaining subdued. Spot supply was relatively ample, while downstream demand was primarily driven by sporadic purchases. Under sales pressure, traders discreetly lowered prices to clear inventory, but transactions fell short of expectations. End-users reported modest recent order intake and weak procurement intentions, with many adopting a wait-and-see approach.
Thick Plate: On July 13, the average price of 20mm plain plate in 24 major cities across China was 3,496 yuan/ton, down 3 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. Futures prices fluctuated downward, with poor market sentiment and weak trading activity, resulting in lower overall transactions compared to the previous week. In terms of resources, HeSteel and TangSteel's thick plate production has entered maintenance phase, leading to a slight decline in weekly operating rates. Regarding production scheduling, current output of plain and medium-thick plates remains relatively low, as most steel mills have shifted to higher-value-added specialty plates.
